Cheilinus undlatus
Napoleon wrasse
Family Labridae. Naopoleon wrasse, that goes by the name of "Napoleon".The
Napoleon wrasse is seen mainly in the coral reef in Okinawa, and is known
as well as the Manta, but is rarely seen in Kushimoto. The Napoleon that
we are rearing in the aquarium now was caught in the lobster gill net in
the sea near Kushimoto in October, 2002, and it was probably carried by
the Kuroshio Current from the south. At the time, Napoleon is 50cm long,
but grows up to be 80cm now, and the state swimming stately in the tank
is worthy of Napoleon's name. |
